Eating Disorder Have the Highest Mortality Rate

This should never ever have to happen to anyone such as losing a close loved one to an eating disorder. We need more understanding, more educating, more advocates.  We need more people who "truly" get it.  Eating Disorders are very "real" and they are not about food or weight, or trying to look like someone else.  They DO NOT discriminate.  Men and Women of all ages, races, lifestyles, economic status, shapes and sizes can die from an eating disorder.  Whether it be Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating, EDNOS, Compulsive Exercise they are all very lethal.  We do not choose to have an eating disorder, but rather it chooses us.  By engaging in your eating disorder unhealthy behaviors doesn't solve the problem, the real problem is what's underneath the eating disorder.  Your feelings, your mindset, and thoughts that you have embedded themselves inside our brains often from such a very young age.  Eating Disorders are about insecurity, feelings of worthlessness, self-hatred, or anger so strong we wish we would just disappear in order to avoid the pain deep down inside of us. When realistically that's not the answer to our problems. They are about have a super-sensative personality type that would do anything to avoid hurting others or even allowing another ED victim suffer.  The negative thought that are rumminating through our minds 24 hours a day saying "you aren't good enough"  Well, "YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH."  You are loved, deserving, cared for, and allowed to get healthy. Eating Disorders tend to have co-existing conditions such as trauma or abuse in the background and when you don't know how to cope you turn right back to the eating disorder.  This must be changed if you want to live.  Individuals that suffer from eating disorders are super sensative to comments and take them personally as thier own.  They also cause individuals to lie, keep secrets for those that care.  Individuals suffering from an eating disorder are desperately seeking hope, love, and feelings of acceptance and belonging.  They want someone to believe they are worth it...and they are!  Eating Disorders are by no means glamorous or pretty or even a choice we choose.  But one things is very certain and that is they do steal lives every year.  This madness has to end rightNOW!  Please don't tell individuals to get over it or it's just a phase because it's clearly not. What they need is for you to be there for them more than ever and understand, listen, love them, and listen to what they have to say without judgement.  Support the individual by walking the journey with them.  This is a fight for life...to live.  Please, please keep fighting and you are never alone in this fight.  There is alway someone willing to listen and offer support.  Remember that eating disorders kill plain and simple.
